From the steps of the guesthouse, you are one block from our home and 10 minutes by car to Lake Michigan.
A five-minute walk takes you to White Lake and downtown Montague, where you’ll find all kinds of shops, a grocery, and a glorious farmer’s market open from May through October. We’re also just a few blocks from the Hart-Montague Bike Trail.
This largely undiscovered region offers everything from cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and antique shopping to miles of some of the most beautiful sugar-sand beaches in the country—as spectacular in the winter as they are in summer. Fishermen routinely catch their limit of bass, walleye, trout and salmon in the local waters, and there’s a bait shop right in town.
The Winter Sports Complex at Muskegon State Park, about 20 minutes south, offers cross-country skiing for all skill levels, plus ice skating and a world-class luge run. Craft shows, festivals and free weekly concerts at the band shell round out the summer offerings. And if you’re ready for a thrill, Michigan Adventure Amusement and Water Park is just 15 minutes away!

You’ll love the blend of arts and culture, the lure of the lakes, and classic Midwest small-town fun. From art exhibitions to ice-fishing, blueberry picking to old-time boat shows, you’ll find it all close by.
Stonehearth and the Bungalow are part of the lore and legacy of early Montague. We are proud to be their caretakers, and guests tell us they love them, too. Let us know how we can make your visit to the White Lake Area your best vacation yet!
